About My Project

I'm Cali Timmins, and I'm working on a school project where we change our style of life and work towards being an activist for 30 days.

For me, I'm focusing on the issue regarding the amount of trash in my community. Whenever I walk or drive through Sammamish, I always see trash on the side of the road. So, I decided to use this project as an opportunity to make an impact on this issue. 

To do this, I decided to walk along one of the busiest roads in Sammamish and pick up trash every day for 30 days.

I'm walking from my house, which is near the blue arrow at the top, to McDonald's, which is shown by the blue arrow at the bottom. I chose the location of McDonald's because my school bus stop is there every morning and afternoon. This walk is about 1.5 miles, so I have been walking about 3 miles every day to pick up trash.

Trash Pickup Day 19: I Found a Library Book!

 Day 19 (Tuesday, 5/2): morning: -2 small pieces of plastic -1 small piece of paper -1 cigarette afternoon: While I was walking back home from my bus stop, I saw an open picture book on the side of the road, which was possibly dropped by a child in a stroller or thrown out of a car window. Surprisingly, this book was in pretty good shape, and I also saw that it belongs to my local library. I took it home, and I'm planning on returning it to the library by the end of my project! Trash Pickup Day 4

Today I found less than I did the last few days, but it was still a moderate amount.      Day 4 (Monday, 4/17): morning: -1 large piece of metal -1 styrofoam cup -1 lego figure -1 piece of tape -7 cigarettes -1 receipt -10-11 small pieces of plastic -2 straws Today I found a lego figure! Today was a rainy day, and it was just laying on the ground.
